I cannot say many words to you now as I'm after writing so long a letter but I must apologise for not enquiring for you in my last letter. I cannot now state the cause as I quite forget it, but it was not ingratitude. I'm delighted with the mode of life you henceforth intend to pursue but from the abundance of the regard which I entertain for you, I would advise you begin by making a firm resolution and a fixed determination

to fly intemperance and live so as never to know it as it's the contaminated source whence all other vices emanate. Very likely it's the first vice the enemy of your salvation will make use of to ruin both your soul and body. But don't be a fool for him. Mind yourself and your salvation and all will be right and God will shower down His blessings on you, and will preserve you from many dangers which you might otherwise meet with.
