These identifications are based on resemblances in a set of photographs in the collection of the Illinois Coogan descendants. As well, they are based on similarities between the handwriting on two New York City photos and hand-writing on an envelope of Katie 's wedding invitation.
Mary Ann Sheehan, Patrick Coogan's second wife, was born about 1840.
Patrick and Mary Ann's eldest son, Matthew F., was born in 1870,
their eldest daughter, Katie, was born in 1871,
their son James J. was born in 1872,
their daughter Mary was born in 1874,
and Patrick and Fannie Quinn Coogan's daughter Lizzie was born about 1860.
