Margaret Doyle (1827-?), c. 1874This woman's image does not occur in any earlier photographs.  The original image contains background patterning identical to the pattern seen on the screen behind Teresa McDonald Coogan, about 1874.
After editing (removing smudges, scratches, and other damage with graphic-file editing software), the pattern is no longer obvious, so please take the editor's word for its existence in the original photo.

If Margaret, who arrived in NYC in 1869-70, accompanied Teresa McDonald to the photo studio before Teresa's 1874 wedding, then this may be Margaret's own photo.  Margaret Doyle was about 47 years of age in 1874, and probably had not been photographed often, if at all, in her adult lifetime.  This woman appears in one other photo in our collections, one apparently taken at a boardwalk photography studio, probably at Rockaway Beach, in the mid-1890's, when she would have been in her late fifties or early sixties.
